Having Gratitude.

Gratitude simply defined means being thankful and showing appreciation. Having gratitude is a trait and concept every one of us should incorporate into our lives. By having gratitude you can turn what little you may have into something abundant. Gratitude holds the power to change your perspective of the world. Gratitude teaches us to recognize and appreciate the goodness in our lives while also recognizing the source of this goodness. We often do not realize that there is so much around us that we take for granted and are lucky to have. I am lucky to have a roof over my head. I am lucky to have a mom who deeply cares for me, understands me, and supports me in whatever way she can. I am lucky to be able to have an education and the ability to learn. I am lucky to have people in my life who support and love me through life’s ups and downs.

It is time that you start your day with gratitude. Look around you and try to find something new every day to be thankful for. By having gratitude, you not only attract more positive energy into your life, but you also can maintain social and emotional well-being. As cheesy as it may sound, I am a firm believer in keeping a positive mindset no matter the situation. Life has and will continue to throw obstacles my way; testing my limits and strength to get through them. Now it is up to me how I want to get through these obstacles; I can either let them bring me down and bring negativity into my life or I can practice gratitude and acknowledge the things I have to be thankful for through these events. At the end of the day, gratitude is a perspective. Gratitude is a choice.
